Ontario Health Coalition Upcoming Meeting and Events: The Crisis in Long Term Care

Ontario Health Coalition

Upcoming Meetings and Events

Ontario Human Rights Inquiry Press Conferences

This month, we are releasing our request for an Inquiry by the Ontario Human Rights Commissioner into the human rights discrimination against the elderly in access to and levels of care in hospitals and long-term care. There will be regional press conferences across the province over the next two weeks highlighting both local and provincial systemic issues in health care and the discrimination elders in Ontario face as a result. We encourage everyone to watch the press conferences, which will all live streamed to the Ontario Health Coalition Facebook page. All times listed are Eastern Standard Time (Toronto time).

For-Profit Long-Term Care Briefing

The for-profit LTC chain Extendicare has applied for a new 30-year license and expansion of existing beds in Kingston. This is a worrying development, and one that is time contingent, which is why we will be hosting a public meeting by Zoom to organize our intervention in the public consultation on this issue. The public consultation will be taking place this week, so it is of vital importance that we work together to intervene.
