Member Meeting: The Charter City, guest speaker John Sewell
The drive toward Toronto achieving Charter City (CC) status is one that would essential give the city much greater autonomy to finance and administer its own affairs. Currently, it is a “creature of the province,” enshrined in the Constitution, and subject to full control, and the whims, of the province.
John Sewell, former mayor of Toronto, lawyer, urban advocate and monitor of Metro police activities presents the case for the charter city.
This meeting, which will be held on-line via zoom, is open to all members. Registration is NOT required. In the week prior to the event, members will receive an email with an invitation to attend the meeting. The email will also contain the zoom instructions and codes. Participants are advised that this meeting will be recorded so that it can be shared with members who are not able to attend.
